If you are a henna artist located in the Tri-State Area and would like to be listed, contact Maureen at: contact@everydayhenna.com or phone (412) 896-4817. You will need to provide information and some evidence related to previous experience, photographs or digital photos (jpg) of recent work and be prepared to chat a bit about yourself and your work as an henna artist. We would like to get to know you and get you listed. So contact us to find out all of the specifics of how to become an EveryDay Mehndi Tri-State Artist.

What are the benefits to becoming listed?

  • be put together with other henna artists with your own high standards and skills for the purpose of networking and also to collaborate with and share events with fees and audiences that require more than one henna artist.

Also in the works.if there is sufficient interest.is an event each year when we get together and offer our services as a group to the public.

What is the cost associated with becoming an EveryDay Mehndi Tri-State Artist?

There is no financial cost associated with becoming listed. Our primary concern is that the artists listed have the skills, expertise, experience, and character that reflects well on the industry and other artists who are also listed. If we book an event and sub-contract it to you, we negotiate your fee with you. There is a one time $2.00 fee for your card. If you lose your card, you will be charged an additional $2.00 fee to replace it. There is no fee for your listing in the EMTSA Gallery. Any costs associated with any EMTSA events and hook-ups are determined and agreed upon by the group and are used to cover the cost of overhead for the specific event.

How long does the listing last?

Your listing lasts as long as you are an active henna artist who is participating in events and accepting jobs. In other words.as long as you are a henna artist who is in business. Artists who have been inactive for 12 months will no longer be listed. However, any artist may reactivate their membership by notifying us they are available and working as an henna artist again.

Who can't be listed or remain listed?

The purpose of the list is to make local henna artists with good skills and practices easy to find. It is to create a solid group of henna artists who know what they are doing and demonstrate that knowledge and skills base to all that hire them. Disreputable practices by anyone member will reflect on every artist on the list. The following are a few basic things that will disqualify artists from being listed:

  • No henna artist who uses PPD or any other known to be harmful ingredients in their paste may be listed.
  • A henna artist that has been listed may lose their listing if they are found to use PPD or other known to be harmful ingredients in their paste. Other known to be harmful ingredients include chemicals added to darken stains that are outside of known to be safe ingredients like petrol.
  • Any henna artist failing to show up for contracted work assignment, shows up habitually late, shows up high, charges more than agreed upon price, or who commits any unlawful act associated with a work assignment will be immediately dropped from the list.

What special training is required?

Henna artist learn their craft in a wide assortment of ways. One is not better than any other. Our concern is not how you learned your craft but simply that you know your craft well enough to provide services to the public in a safe, professional and consistent way.

Are listed artists required to accept all referrals?

No! We are providing a service that compels you to do nothing but work ethically, safely and professionally. If a potential job is not one you are available to take, just let us know and we will contact someone else. An artist who turns down most referrals will be effected only by our need to use most frequently those artist that are available most often. If at anytime you know that you are not going to be available for a couple of months, just let us know and we will not make referrals to you during that specified time period. When you are again available, just let us know.

Will some henna artists get priority referrals over others?

If the person wishing to hire a henna artist asks for a specific henna artists, we will contact the henna artist asked for first. We anticipate that the more you work, the more likely someone will ask for you by name. Other than that, your location may be a factor if you only wish to accept referrals in your specific area. Other considerations can be your style and specialization. We will match henna artists with clients seeking their specialty. If you only do bridal mehndi and that is your specialty, we will match you with clients seeking that. If you teach classes and prefer children to adults, we will match you with people seeking someone to teach classes for children. If you are in West Virginia and someone is seeking someone to do ongoing henna classes, we will first refer someone from West Virginia who can most easily handle the logistics of getting back and forth. If you are only interested in paid referrals, we will not contact you regarding opportunities for demonstrations or other nonpaying events.

Other than trying to make a referral that makes sense to both the henna artist and the person wishing to hire so that it works for both, there is no prioritization.

Is there a guarantee that I will get jobs by being listed?

There are no such guarantees in the world of henna. However, getting listed will, however, greatly improve your chances to obtain henna jobs both through referrals and through information you will have access to about events in your area. It will also increase your exposure and provide one more way people seeking to hire henna artists can locate you. It also provides you with a community of henna artists to network with and cooperate with to obtain jobs you could not afford to do or handle as a solo henna artist. It will also provide you with a real and tangible community of henna artist to meet with, plan with, share henna designs with and gain support for your work from.
