What's with all these changes?A word from the webmaster. We have made a number of changes to how you now get around the website. First-time visitors won't notice it, but frequent visitors will notice that the site has just undergone a series of major changes. Some changes include where you will find some of your favorite products. If we have accomplished our goals, you will find it easier to find the products you are looking for. Following is an explanation of many of the changes:
Of course, as with any changeover, it's entirely possible that mistakes have been made or something simply is not functioning adequately. If you should happen to find anything out of the ordinary, or have a hard time finding something that you used to be able to find easily, please let me know. Of course, you can use the site map (link is to the right) or search the site (type your search term in the box at the upper left). Why make changes? Because we felt the site could be made an easier place to get around. The drop-down menu limited the categories we could offer--So sometimes, it wasn't as easy to find things as we wanted it to be. Technically, the problem was that the frames only allowed for 4 selections at a time, and the script that generated the menus was huge. But with the introduction of Microsoft's Service Pack 2 (SP2), the javascript issue became an enormous headache: when IE users went to any page with active scripting (like a JavaScript), they get a huge security alert! Ack! So our thinking was that few people would be willing to allow the script to run if they got that alert, making it necessary to remove the script from the page. The frameset also used a script: people who came into the site from an outside link would not get the frames unless the script was running, and of course, SP2 gave a huge security alert for that, too. We were also not pleased with the way the store section was integrated into the site... or really, the lack of integration. This redesign should help to fix that, and make it easier for you to log in to your account, buy what you need, and still read all the wonderful information Maureen has made available. I hope that you find your new browsing experience is faster, easier, and all-around better than it was before. If you run into technical problems, please don't hesitate to email, and I'll take care of those problems right away. Jan Andrea |
