Cold Weather Tips!

1. In order to enhance dye release, place your henna paste in a very warm place in your home. You will find places like on top of a TV that is on a lot...on top of a heat register...on the stove top or near the stove when you are cooking...in your unlit oven that has a pilot light.

2. The colder it is outside, the harder it is to maintain a constant warm temperature inside. This lack of consistent heat can prolong the dye release time for your henna paste.

3. When it is cold...wrap...wrap...wrap. You best stains will be obtained when you can keep the area of your paste-on-skin warm and cozy. So always wrap. And also when you can keep your entire body warm and cozy. Drinking something warm while your henna stains develop helps your stains. Keeping your body heat from escaping through your extremities with a scarf, socks and gloves helps your stains to develop. Steam your designs to help to remove the paste and for about 10 minutes afterwards helps your stains to develop. Nothing nicer than to boil your water for your tea and steam your stain at the same time. Holding a nice warm cup of tea is friendly to a stain developing on your hand. Drinking a nice warm cup of tea increase your body temp and can create a most friendly environment for your developing henna stain. Warmth is the key.

If you have to go outside in the cold when your henna stain is developing, keep your paste moist and/or remoisten it as soon as you return inside. The cold will slow down or stop your stain development. But as soon as you return to a warm place and remoisten your paste, the staining process will return to normal.

In cold weather, it is optimal to always give a wrapped design 8 hours before paste removal.

Don't let the cold weather make you abandon your henna. Even in colder weather, there is pleasure to be had...:-)
